My LO “forever together” is on the catwalk at SisTV today! I’m stoked!!!

🙂

In other (personal) news, there’s also something to be happy about – I’ve got the date for my elective c-section set. It’s all gonna happen on January the 5th, if everything goes to plan. Only 5 1/2 weeks to go!!!

YAY!!!

What can I tell you…

Posted by swewi on November 24, 2008

– I’m a challenge freak!!! If you visit my blog regularly, you already know this… This means I get quite a lot of scrapping done, but sometimes, I just STRESS about it! All depending on the challenge of course.

Last night I was staying up LATE for being me right now, to finish the first challenge over at Scrappin’ Patch’s new competition “Stars in their eyes”. I’ve never submitted so close to deadline before I think… The challenge was to create a LO Nic Howard style. Yeah. Not easy!!! The reveal of the LO’s was earlier tonight, and the gallery looks fantastic! Good luck judges!! 🙂

This is my take:

annelie-week-1-nh

For me, Nic’s style is easy to recognize. You can tell when it’s her stuff you’re looking at. It’s simple, but yet soooooo detailed! Very cool…

What I have “stolen” from Nic in the above LO is the paper curling and inking, the layers, a rub-on, embellishments cut out from paper, title in different fonts and sizes, and the strip journaling. The journaling are more often thatn not done on the computer, and she likes to tell little stories from an ordinary day. Love it!!!

My next HUGE task in the challenge world is to complete the TWO LO’s I have to do for the final (YAY! I made it to the final!) in Pyssel Passion’s competition. HUGE task I tell you. Let’s see if I can manage, I’m not sure…

Something different

Posted by swewi on November 23, 2008

I’ve finished another LO for Magistical Memories. It’s veeeeeeeeeeery different from what I’ve ever done before, but I like it!!

klok-som-en-uggla

In Sweden we have a saying – “Wise as an owl”. Don’t know if you have the same in English? The journaling is about when DD (2 yrs old) understood that she had to change from Swedish to English when talking to dad! 🙂

I’ve used the “Spooky tree” here, first I painted it with crackle paint, then I sprayed it a few times with glimmermist. I cut apart the “Owl hang around“. The owl has been dressed in felt, then inked around the edges. Also used pearl maker for the pink eyes! The scallop from the “Owl hang around” was inked, and then some pearl maker. I took the smallest “Flutterby” and dressed it in felt, inked around the edges, and it’s “body” is made of pearl maker. I made the “Scalloped plates” my clouds. I dressed them in paper, then sanded the edges. I also doodled around the edges. I cut one of the “Fancy frames” in three pieces, sprayed them with glimmer mist and voila – they are birds!! 🙂

Other products used; the grass is cut out on my lovely cricut, on dotted cs from Bazill. The hedgehog and mushrooms are chipboard from SassaFrasLass, cute aye? The leaves are also cut out on the cricut, from g.c.d. paper. The alphas are Scenic Route and Cloud 9 design.

Rightio. Time to get back to my Sunday! Thanks for stopping by!

It’s a good day!

Posted by swewi on November 21, 2008

I woke up this morning checking my regular websites, and there was awesome news on the Pyssel Passion blog – I am one of the two winners of this weeks challenge! Whoooo hooo!!! I am wrapped, because this was one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever done. These were the reqirements, you could choose to do all or some of them:

  • Theme – two
  • Use something from your kitchen who is not similar to a scrapbooking product on you LO (I wrapped some twine around a pair of chopsticks)
  • Stamp with something that is not a stamp or bubblewrap (I did not do this)
  • Create your own decoration (I made a felt heart, sew around it with ribbon, and hung a stickled grungeboard key on it)
  • Have more than 30 words journalling (Mine is hidden under the photo, but it’s over 30 words, I promise!)
  • Use different fonts in the same word in your title
  • Use at least three photos
  • Use doodling (mine is on my photos)
  • Use at least 5 different patterned pp’s from at least 4 manufacturers

All this to be submitted within 24 hrs to get the most points… Yeah… Well this is my LO, and I love it!

There’s an awesome bunch of ladies on the team, including Kate & Kim. As soon as I have gotten to know the other girls on the team, there will be links out to the right. Our first challenge will be up on December 1st, make sure you check it out!!

Advent calendar

Posted by swewi on November 20, 2008

Today on The Sketchbook forum, I’ve done a post about a little advent calendar. Goes like this:

In Sweden, pretty much every household with kids has an advent calendar up during December. We fill it up with small pressies rather than lollies, but if you’re lucky – the odd chocolate is snuck in there… So, I decided to make a small one for my daughter, as our house is not very big.

oct-08-006

But it’s only three socks, you say?!? Yes, that’s the clever part… I have put velcro under the nubmers, so that I can just change numbers as the days go by.

oct-08-010

How to:Draw a template and cut out; trace onto patterned paper – two mirrowed socks for each sock you want to make. Sew together around the edges of the sock, leave a small border. If you’re lucky enough to have a sewing machine – use it! It takes quite a while to do it by hand, trust me…  Decorate tops with felt, paper or ribbon, and whatever you fancy. Glue a ribbon loop inside.

And, if you don’t want to make 25 socks, just do a few and put velcro onder your numbers, and they’re easy to change! I got velcro by the metre at Spotlight.

Cool isn’t it?!?

Well, I’m sure there was something else I wanted to share, but my mind has gone blank so it will have to be another day! CIAO!!

I’ve also managged to update my previous posts with some links. Better late than never, aye… Oh – and if you’re thinking of getting yourself some Magistical Memories  chippies, now is the time. They’re offering FREE SHIPPING on all orders over 25USD until 30 November. COOOOOOL!!!

Magistical Memories stuff

Posted by swewi on November 19, 2008

So I’ve been working on the round 2 entries for Magistical Memories. The package I got was FULL of yummy chipboard, I haven’t used a lot for my three entries really! I will probably keep creating, but at least I know I have my three that I need to have. So… Time to share… Would looooove some comments on these projects!!

safe-sound

For this LO I wanted to keep the chippies as neutral as possible. I have used the “Potty People“, a “Window tab” and a “Fancy frame“. On the fancy frame I used a script stamp from Hero Arts. The background pp is from Basic Grey, the kraft CS from Bazill, and then I have used a strip of pp from a Swedish mf, Inkido. The flowers are Prima, also stamped with the script stamp. The alphas are from Making Memories. The blue pearls was made with my new love, the Pearl maker by WACO. Other stuff; eylets, twine, brown ink and black pen.

you

For this LO, both the “May apple bloom” & “White oak leaf” chippies was embossed with a cuttlebug. Looks real nice IRL!!! 🙂 On the flowers I then painted, chalked and then added some kindyglitz/stickles for a sparkly effect. I inked the leaves. I’ve used a “Fancy frame” chipboard under my title, covered in pp, then sanded around the edges. The scalloped pp is Crate Paper, I then cut the dotted Bazill CS to the same shape. I’ve also used Making memories and Basic Grey pp. Under the photo I have used random fabric, ribbon and pearly things… The big brads in the flowers are Autumn leaves, as is the clip. I’ve used Prima bling swirls, some twine (again!) and a black pen. The alpha is American craft thickers. Love’em…

holiday-cards

I am so NOT a cardmaker, but when I saw the starts in my pack, I knew they were made for cards! 🙂 On the Xmas card, I have used the “Shining so bright star“. I inked it with brilliance ink first, then I dabbed with a watermelon coloured paint around the edges, and finally some kindygllitz/stickles also around the edges. I’ve put that whole square on 3-d cushions, it looks fabulous IRL! The pp’s are Bazill, Reminisce & Making memories. The alphas are Prima, covered in kindyglitz/stickles. The ribbon is from Spotlight, and the little charm is from a local shop in my hometown in Sweden, Landstoken.

On the Happy new year card, I used the “Folk star” chipboard. I painted them in different blue colours, then I used a LOT of kindyglitz/stickles to cover them! They are also set on 3-d cushions. The pp’s are Bazill and g.c.d, and then some velvet ric rac from my stash. The alphas are again Prima, covered in kindyglitz/stickles (loooooooove the sparkly!!!).

OK. It’s soooooo bedtime for me. I will have to add some links to this post tomorrow, I just can’t get there tonight. Please forgive the pregnant lady for being slack… 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, and like I said… Commenst will be VERY MUCH appreciated!!

Will be back tomorrow! Night night!

This and that

Posted by swewi on November 14, 2008

Wow, where did that week go???

The fact that I found out I have gestational diabetes have taken up a lot of my time, trying to understand what it means, and coming to terms with a new diet. I’m nowhere near knowing as much as I want to, but I’m getting there…

🙂

But yes – I have been scrapping. Can’t show everything, but here’s one LO that I loved doing:

vecka5anneliemaddock

Explanation of this LO perhaps?? It’s my dear husband in 1994, falling asleep with his best friend the guitar next to him. I’m not sad I didn’t know him back then. We’d never become a couple I tell ya that… 🙂

I’ve used a tag from a pair of Levis jeans, some lace cardstock, misc pp, and alphas from MM, AC and Scenic Route. On the chipboard guitar from Magistical Memories, I’ve used crackle paint for the first time. Love it!

For my Christmas inspiration on Sketchbook this week, I shared my candy canes dipped in chocolate, and then wrapped in cellophane bags:

Well, that’s it for now. I’m working on my Magistical Memories stuff, but am not quite finished. It’s a lot of fun though!!!

Pyssel Passion week 4

Posted by swewi on November 7, 2008

This is my LO for challenge no 4 @ Pyssel Passion. The criteria was to use some sort of tape, the colour combo pink and red, flowers, bling, NO cardstock, and then there were certain Swedish song-titles to choose from as your title or over all inspiration. The title of my LO says “When you’re in this mood you’re a STRANGER“.

vecka4anneliemaddock

For the first time I’ve used a sewing machine (on top of the dotty fabric) on a LO – thanks Delys!!! I don’t have one, but being at the retreat I got to use one. Very cool! The flowers from Maya Road are velvet – so yummy!!! The tree is from Magistcal Memories, I’ve covered it with felt.

I’m no near winning this competition, but it doesn’t matter. I’m gonna play to the end if I can!! 🙂
