Scrap within reach and discoveries while counting buttons…

Posted by swewi on March 21, 2010

Adrienne and Pauline from Scrappin’ Patch  sent me some “Scrap within reach” pp’s to play with. The “girly” ones they said. The collection is called “Urban garden”. When I got them, I didn’t find them very girly at all, but I REALLY liked the colours!! They also asked me to try and use the patterend sides of the papers (they are all double sided – great value!), and that can really be a challenge. To not choose the SAFE side of the pp if you know what I mean…

So, here’s what I have come up with so far – three LO’s.

Other products used: Jillibean soup journal sprout, BG cs & buttons, Webster’s & Rose Moka alphas, MM word fetti, misc pin & Prima packaging.

Other products used: BG alphas, Prima flower vine, flowers, leaves & pearls and a Tim Holtz book plate.

Close up of my kites:

I’ve got papers left, so there might be more inspiration coming. Watch this space…

And yes, I have a winner. I’m guessing that’s why a few of you are here. To see if you won my little RAK. Well… I discovered a few things while I was counting those darn buttons…

1 – I have a LOT of purple buttons. Don’t need to stock up on that any time soon.

2 – I have too FEW red buttons. But I knew that already.

3 – I found one button that had the word “playboy” on it. Have no idea where I got that button from. Would really like to know!

4 – I really need to vacuum the floor in my scrap studio… I dropped a lot of buttons while counting, and found a lot of dust. Time to clean for sure.

5 – I have WAY more buttons that I thought!!! That jar is not even half full, and the count came to…

1, 2, 3….53….108…

Posted by swewi on March 19, 2010

Yep. I’m counting buttons. For THIS giveaway. Have you put your guess in? As long as it’s March 19th somewhere in the world, you can still guess!!

🙂

I’m also counting the days ’til the Scrappin’ Patch retreat. Only a week to go! Will I see you there? I’ll be giving a class – my first one! Very excited about that!!!

I have a LO to share too, a LO I did for this months contest over at Magistical Memories. The recipe is to use green, gold, “LUCKY” in the title, and chipboard of course. I rarely use gold, so I found this hard!!! Anyway, this is my take:

Have used a mix of products on here; paper from Rose Moka, BG & MM, an old book page, flowers from Prima, one of them sprayed with “candlelight” glimmermist & painted with gold Smooch, Robin’s Nest dewdrops, & alphas from Carolee’s Creations & Collage Press. The chipboard butterfly is a new release from Magistical Memories. I sprayed it with  “candlelight” glimmermist, stamped with a Hero Arts script stamp & then painted with gold Smooch around the edges. I also used the negatives from the butterfly wings. Just inked them green and added them to my flower cluster. I hope to see YOUR take on this contest in the galler. There’s some awesome chipboard to win!!!

Posted by swewi on March 15, 2010

…my life was very different to what it is today. The worst day of my life was on January the 7th 1997, and I have done a page about that. I think it’s VERY important to not only scrap the happy moments or cutsie stuff, but I know how HARD it can be to do just that. This page was for SWE Scrapbook blog, but I have done pages about my cancer before, and will most likely do more pages about. It’s such a big part of my past, my present and my future. I am happy and healthy right now, but the experience of cancer has made me who I am today. As it turns out, cancer was not only the worst thing in my life, but also the best. It changed who I was in so many ways, and that can only be good… I believe in change…

For this page, I used a photo taken about four months after I got the diagnosis. I used Bazill kraft as my base. The chipboard circles from Magistical Memories was sprayed with three different glimmermists, then inked and I used my fav leaf stamp from Montarga. The flower is made of Prima leaves, then you can also see Prima pebbles and alphas on there. I have also used alphas from Carolee’s Creations, MM and Webster’s. I just really wanted to make sure my journaling is the main focus, without making the LO to depressing… If you don’t understand Swedish, and want to know more about the journaling, let me know.

So. Here we go:

I have some more stuff to share, but I feel that this LO needs a post to itself… Be back soon!!

Welcome home ginger bread, bee happy!!!

Posted by swewi on March 10, 2010

Funny heading to my post you say? Yeah… It’s all gonna be revealed in this post!

First, a LO for Monday’s sketch challenge over at SWE Scrapbook blog:

Products used: October Afternoon pp’s and embellies, Prima flower vine, BG hearts, Webster’s & Kaisercraft alphas.

Then, a LO about when Tova and I made ginger bread cookies in December. Don’t you just LOVE the cute ginger bread girls from Magistical Memories?? The title says “baking ginger bread”, but the Swedish word is so much fun the LO had to be in Swedish!

Products used: Bazzill cs, Kaisercraft patterned pp & pearls, punchinella, ribbon from Kikki.K, chatterbox button, Jillibean Soup & Jenni Bowlin journaling spots, MM wordfetti & safety pin, AC thickers, and a white journaling pen.

For Magistical Memories, I have also created a card! Yes – a card! Not what I do best, but this cute flower just screamed card at me…

The stem is painted with green smooch, the flower was first covered in yellow pearlmaker, then I added some gold smooch on top. The black dots are also pearlmaker. Other products are bazzill cs,  October Afternoon pp & bee, and BG alphas.

Phew… It only took three days to get this post done! LOL It’s been busy in my house…

Oh – and if you haven’t already – remember to guess the number of buttons to win a RAK, in this post. Ciao!

Do you like buttons???

Posted by swewi on March 1, 2010

I do… But I don’t feel I have enough. Can you ever have enough buttons though? Another question – can you guess how many buttons are in this jar?

Well, you should give it a go, because whoever’s guessing closest to the right amount of buttons will receive this (and maybe some other stuff that will be added before the game is over… ) :

Because free stuff is always nice to get, right? Feel free to spread the word too…

Leave a comment before March 19th, on this post, to be in to win! And yes, I will send worldwide!!!

Now, while you’re here, I’d like to share two LO’s with you. The first one is for the latest challenge on the Up2Scrap blog. Have you got your mag yet, by the way? Cool huh? Anyway, the prize for this challenge is SO AMAZING. I wish I could enter…

🙂

The title is a little bit hard to read for some reason, it says “You bring sunshine on a cloudy day”. The photo is taken by Positive Negatives, on our latest family shoot. I have used Bazzill cardstock, Scribble Scrabble patterned pp’s, Robin’s Nest dewdrops, MM pins, Prima lace, 2Crafty chipboard, shimmerz, Pink Paislee alphas, Carolee’s Creations mini alphas, misc buttons & thread, and the fabulous Martha Stewart fence punch! Go on, check the challenge out! You gotta be in to win!

Then, a LO for a challenge on SWE Scrapbook blog. Use patterned paper, distressing and ribbon. My example:

Have used patterned pp from Jillibean Soup, Jenni Bowlin & October Afternoon, Prima flowers, ribbon, bling and alphas, Jenni Bowlin butterfly & Pink Paislee alphas.

I love this photo of my girls, getting their groove on…

Right. Off to the couch I go, have some TV to catch up on!! See you soon!!
